The whole admission cycle of NEET UG exam consists of the following main processes.
The NEET exam will take place using a traditional pen-and-paper format as no new changes has been introduced as of now. When will NEET 2025 Registration Start
Candidates can use their generated Application Number and Password for future logins. All candidates must supply an accurate e-mail address and mobile number. With the significant controversy surrounding NEET 2024, there are rumors about a potential shift in the exam mode for NEET UG 2025 or the possibility of having separate NEET exams for various states. According to reports, the Ministry of Education intends to switch the exam format to computer-based or online in order to prevent paper leak incidents.
Additionally, the Ministry is considering the possibility of dividing the exam into two stages, preliminary and final, which would be administered by separate organizations. Although NTA may administer the initial test, the final NEET exam may be conducted by other organizations like NBEMS or CBSE.
Conversely, the state governments in West Bengal and Karnataka have approved resolutions opposing NEET as the only national medical entrance exam and instead opting to conduct their own state-level undergraduate medical entrance exams. Yet, this is still in the process of being planned and a final determination has not been made.
The NTA issues the NEET UG admit card for all the students who successfully submitted their application form. The NEET UG 2025 admit card will be released by the NTA around 10 days before the exam, that is, fourth week of April tentatively. Before the release of the admit card, the NTA also releases the NEET UG city intimation slip. The NEET admit card is compulsory to appear for the exam.

The NEET exam center is the place where the test is held on the exam day. It is expected that there will be approximately 5,000 NEET exam centres in 2025, spread out in more than 570 cities in both India and other countries.
In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the total number of exam cities throughout India. Nevertheless, there has been no change in the amount of international exam locations, with a total of 14 still in operation.
There is an anticipation that there will be more NEET exam cities in 2025 compared to the previous year. In India, there were 4,750 exam centers and 557 NEET exam cities last year, with an additional 14 cities overseas. Applicants must choose their top two preferred exam locations. The NEET 2025 question paper will be made available in thirteen different languages. Candidates must choose their desired language for the NEET question paper when completing the application form and make sure they get the paper in their chosen language. The NTA generally prepares four groups of question paper, each containing six further subsets, resulting in total 24 different question paper sets. Each paper will contain 200 questions, with candidates required to answer 180 of them. Although the questions in every NEET exam are identical, the order or placement of the topics or questions will differ.
The NTA releases tow types of answer key for the NEET UG exam: Provisional/Preliminary answer key and final answer key. NTA is expected to release the NEET 2025 provisional answer key around one month after the exam, specifically in the fourth week of May 2025. Candidates will have a period of four to five days to submit any objections or challenges against the provisional answer key.
The final answer keys will be deduced by the NTA expert panel after reviewing the objections. The NEET UG final result will be calculated using the NEET final answer keys. The NEET UG final answer key is published shortly (few hours) before the result is announced. Under no circumstances can candidates contest the final answer key of NTA NEET UG 2025.
The NTA is expected to announce the NEET 2025 result around the second week of June 2025. The NTA publish the NEET result in the form of merit list and scorecard. The scorecards contain information on candidates, their credentials, scores, All India Rank (AIR), category, and the 15% All India Quota. Moreover, the scorecards show the minimum NEET cutoff marks required for candidates from general, SC, ST, and OBC categories.
Candidates must log in to the NTA NEET official website to access and download their scorecards in PDF format. NTA will release the data and statistics of the exam, including the total number of applicants, total number of students who took the test, and qualifying candidates along with the NEET result.
The NTA releases the NEET UG cutoff every year which determines the qualifying marks required to appear in the counselling process of the NEET exam. The NEET UG 2025 cutoff will be announced after the result declaration in June 2025. The cut-off marks are released separately category-wise. From the past trends, it has been observed that the cut-off marks for the General category is the 50th percentile while it is the 45th percentile for other categories.

The NEET UG admission begins after the result is announced by the authority. Admission to both state-level and national-level colleges are done through the counselling process. Candidates who qualify for the NEET UG exam will have to register for the NEET 2025 counselling on the official website. The admission is done solely based on the merit rank obtained by the candidate in NEET. No other factor is taken into account during the admission.
NEET counselling for 15% of AIQ seats in government colleges and 100% for deemed/central universities, ESIC/AFMS, AIIMS, and JIPMER is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) using NEET scores. State counseling authorities are responsible for managing counseling sessions for the remaining 85% of state quota seats. The state counselling is generally considered side by side with central counselling with a gap of two days.
The NEET AIQ (All India Quota) counseling process consists of four rounds: rounds 1, 2, 3, and a stray vacancy round. A seat is assigned based on applicants’ choices, NEET 2025 rank, and seat availability and reservations. The NEET UG 2025 counselling procedure involves signing up, selecting courses, and making the registration payment.

To ace your NEET preparation, the most essential and initial step is to familiarize yourself with the exam syllabus. To prepare thoroughly for the exam, candidates must be conversant with the NEET syllabus 2025 which includes three major subjects: physics, and chemistry, based on the NCERT curriculum for classes 11 and 12. The NEET 2025 latest syllabus should be the official guide that students need to follow during their preparation phase.
This Biology section in the NEET question paper accounts for one-half, i.e., 50% of the questions and marks. UNIT 7: PROPERTIES OF SOLIDS AND LIQUIDS
Elastic behavior, Stress-strain relationship, Hooke’s Law. Young’s modulus, bulk modulus, mand odulus of rigidity. Pressure due to a fluid column; Pascal’s law and its applications. Effect of gravity on fluid pressure. Viscosity. Stokes’ law. terminal velocity, streamline, and turbulent flow, critical velocity. Bernoulli’s principle and its applications.
Surface energy and surface tension, angle of contact, excess of pressure across a curved surface, application of surface tension – drops, bubbles, and capillary rise. UNIT 8: THERMODYNAMICS
Thermal equilibrium, zeroth law of thermodynamics, the concept of temperature. Heat, work, and internal energy. The first law of thermodynamics, isothermal and adiabatic processes. The second law of thermodynamics: reversible and irreversible processes.
UNIT 9: KINETICTHEORY OF GASES
Equation of state of a perfect gas, work done on compressing a gas, Kinetic theory of gases – assumptions, the concept of pressure. Kinetic interpretation of temperature: RMS speed of gas molecules: Degrees of freedom. Law of equipartition of energy and applications to specific heat capacities of gases; Mean free path. UNIT 10: OSCILLATIONS AND WAVES
Oscillations and periodic motion – time period, frequency, displacement as a function of time. Periodic functions. Simple harmonic motion (S.H.M.) and its equation; phase: oscillations of a spring -restoring force and force constant: energy in S.H.M. – Kinetic and potential energies; Simple pendulum – derivation of expression for its time period:

UNIT 11: ELECTROSTATICS

UNIT 12: CURRENT ELECTRICITY
Electric current. Drift velocity, mobility, and their relation with electric current.. Ohm’s law. Electrical resistance. V-l characteristics of Ohmic and non-ohmic conductors. Electrical energy and power. Electrical resistivity and conductivity. Series and parallel combinations of resistors; Temperature dependence of resistance.
Internal resistance, potential difference and emf of a cell, a combination of cells in series and parallel. Kirchhoff’s laws and their applications, Wheatstone bridge, Metre Bridge.
UNIT 13: MAGNETIC EFFECTS OF CURRENT AND MAGNETISM
Biot – Savart law and its application to current carrying circular loop. Ampere’s law and its applications to infinitely long current carrying straight wire and solenoid. Force on a moving charge in uniform magnetic and electric fields.
Force on a current-carrying conductor in a uniform magnetic field. The force between two parallel currents carrying conductors-definition of ampere. Torque experienced by a current loop in a uniform magnetic field: Moving coil galvanometer, its sensitivity, and conversion to ammeter and voltmeter.
Current loop as a magnetic dipole and its magnetic dipole moment. Magnification. Power of a Lens. Combination of thin lenses in contact. Refraction of light through a prism. Microscope and Astronomical Telescope (reflecting and refracting ) and their magnifying powers.
Wave optics: wave front and Huygens’ principle. Laws of reflection and refraction using Huygens principle. UNIT 17: DUAL NATURE OF MATTER AND RADIATION
Dual nature of radiation. Photoelectric effect. Hertz and Lenard’s observations; Einstein’s photoelectric equation: particle nature of light. Matter waves-wave nature of particle, de Broglie relation..
UNIT 18: ATOMS AND NUCLEI

Familiarity with the basic approach and observations of the experiments and activities:
1. Vernier calipers-its use to measure the internal and external diameter and depth of a vessel.
2. Screw gauge-its use to determine thickness/ diameter of thin sheet/wire.
3. Simple Pendulum-dissipation of energy by plotting a graph between the square of amplitude and time.
4. Metre Scale – the mass of a given object by the principle of moments.
5. Young’s modulus of elasticity of the material of a metallic wire.

The NEET chemistry syllabus is divided into Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Inorganic Chemistry. As per the latest NEET syllabus 2025, there are a total number of 20 Units covering these three parts of the Chemistry.

No, the NEET 2025 exam pattern will remain the same like the previous year, i.e., like NEET UG 2024. The students are speculating if the exam pattern of the NEET UG will also change as the NTA has recently revised the exam pattern of JEE Mains. However, the NTA has not said anything regarding the change in the exam pattern of NEET UG exam. As the NEET UG exam underwent significant changes in the last year, there is no chance of changing the exam structure again.
The NEET UG 2025 exam will be held in offline mode. The exam mode can be modified for the year 2025 due to the question paper leak in NEET 2024. The NEET 2024 questions were circulated from its strong room in Patna and Hazaribagh after someone breached the security and clicked photos of the official question paper.
However, since its inception, the NEET UG exam has been conducted in offline mode on a single day. If the NTA introduces any change in the NEET 2025 exam mode, we will update the same at the earliest on this page.
According to the NEET 2025 exam pattern, there will be four answer choices for each question, and candidates must choose one option. On the OMR sheet, use a blue or black ballpoint pen to shade the circle next to the accurate option. Candidates planning to take the NEET 2025 exam should familiarize themselves with the NEET exam format during their preparation.
The NEET 2025 exam format offers candidates a greater variety of questions to try. The question paper is divided into two sections: Section A and Section B. The section A contains 35 questions all of which are compulsory. In the section B, candidates must answer 10 of the 15 questions. Both sections have MCQs and contains negative marking. As per the NEET format, the NEET exam includes three subjects- Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

The total marks in the NEET UG 2025 exam is 720. As there are 180 compulsory questions and each question amounts to 4 marks, making the total 720. No candidate in the exam can receive marks greater than the total marks. The NEET exam for medical and dental undergraduate courses in India includes 200 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), from which candidates are required to answer 180.
The NEET UG 2025 exam paper consists of 50 questions each from Physics and Chemistry section out of which 45 are compulsory in each section, thus both these section amounts to 180 marks each. The Biology section consists of 100 questions out of 90 are compulsory, resulting in 360 marks. These three sections together contribute to the total marks of 720.
As per the latest NEET exam patter 2025, the NEET UG exam will be held in 13 different languages. These languages are English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
Applicants have the option to select the language of the NEET 2025 question paper when they complete the application form. There are speculations and talks going in the NEET aspirants and experts that NTA might conduct the NEET UG 2025 exam in online mode. The eligibility criteria for NEET 2025 will be published by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in the information bulletin at neet.ntaonline.in. Aspiring candidates must familiarize themselves with the NEET eligibility criteria 2025 to meet the necessary requirements for the entrance exam. Admission to various courses under NEET will only be given to candidates who meet the eligibility criteria.
Age Limit
Minimum Age: The candidate must have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or should complete that age on or before 31st December of the admission year.
Upper Age Limit:
General category: The upper age limit is 25 years as of the date of the exam.
Reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC-NCL & PwD): A relaxation of 5 years is allowed, making the upper age limit 30 years.
Educational Qualifications
Subjects: Candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects in both Class 11 and Class 12.
Qualifying Marks:
General category: A minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology in 10+2 or equivalent examination.
SC/ST/OBC-NCL: A minimum of 40% marks in the same subjects.
PwD: A minimum of 45% marks for general PwD candidates.
Nationality
Indian Citizens, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), and Foreign Nationals are eligible to apply for NEET.
Number of Attempts
There is no limit on the number of attempts for the NEET exam.
Eligibility for Seats
All India Quota: Candidates from all over India, including J&K, are eligible for the 15% All India Quota.
State Quota: For the remaining 85% state quota seats, students must meet the domicile requirements of the respective states.
Additional Notes
Candidates who are appearing for their Class 12 or equivalent exam in the current academic year are also eligible to apply, provided they meet the eligibility criteria at the time of admission.

The eligibility criteria for NEET PG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate) are as follows:
Educational Qualification:
You must have a MBBS degree or a Provisional MBBS Pass Certificate recognized by the Indian Medical Council Act.
You should also possess a permanent or provisional registration certificate of MBBS qualification issued by the Medical Council of India (MCI) or State Medical Council.
Internship:
You must have completed the mandatory one-year internship on or before March 31 of the admission year. Proof of completing the internship is required when applying for the exam.
Eligibility for Foreign Medical Graduates:
Candidates who have obtained their MBBS degree from outside India must have cleared the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE).
They should also be registered with the Medical Council of India (MCI) or State Medical Council and have completed their internship.
Eligibility for Foreign Nationals:
Foreign nationals don’t need to be registered with the MCI at the time of writing NEET PG. However, upon selection, they will need to obtain temporary registration with MCI, which will be valid only for the duration of their postgraduate course in India.
Upper Age Limit:
There is no upper age limit for NEET PG.
Number of Attempts:
There is no restriction on the number of attempts for NEET PG.

The NTA revised the NEET eligibility requirements for the 2024 examination. The NEET UG eligibility criteria related to academics have been updated by the NTA. Candidates who studied chemistry, physics, biology, or biotechnology as an additional subject in Class 12 are eligible to take the exam, according to the updated NEET UG eligibility criteria.
Earlier only those students who studied the PCB (Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology) as regular subjects were eligible to apply for the NEET UG exam. The NEET eligibility 2025 has not been released officially yet. If any changes are made in the latest eligibility requirements for 2025, we will update the same here.
As stated in the overview table above, candidates who want to apply for the NEET UG exam must have passed class 12th or equivalent from a recognized education board. Candidates who want to take the NEET exam must satisfy the qualify marks requirement set by the NTA. Candidates can take the NEET exam as many times as they want without any limits, as long as they meet all the eligibility requirements. Modifications to the NEET 2025 eligibility requirements in 2018 removed the limitations on the number of attempts for NEET. Consequently, there is no restriction on the amount of NEET attempts one can make. There is now no limit on number of attempts for candidates of every category.
The requirements for NEET qualification in 2025 for MBBS involve finishing 12th grade with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English from an accredited board. Candidates in the general category need to achieve a minimum of 50% marks in these subjects, whereas SC/ST/OBC candidates need at least 40%.

The Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) and Ladakh regions are categorized as special regions of India and until 2019, they were semi-autonomous. Candidates from Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) and Ladakh have a reserved 15% quota under the All India Quota. Candidates from these Union Territories can participate in the application process equally with candidates from states.
